TikTok's Popularity Still Rising, Amid Ban Threats

Wells Fargo's recent TikTok ban could be just the first in a line of companies that follow suit. Then again, the app's resilient user base could also ensure that it won't be missed even if it is banned by individual companies. The popular, yet, controversial app might be the topic of discussion whenever security concerns come up, but that hasn't meant it's losing popularity in the process. In fact, dozens of content creators and users recently showed their support and appreciation for the one-of-a-kind social media platform, using the #SaveTikTok hashtag on Twitter.

If anything, perhaps the recent issues surrounding TikTok might just have popularized the short-video platform even more, and especially after so much negative press in such a short period of time. Companies like Amazon might have initially painted TikTok in a bad light, but the company also rescinded those notions shortly afterwards, explaining that its email sent out to employees detailing the ban was a mistake. Only time will tell if TikTok stays on Wells Fargo's ban list or if others join in by issuing their own bans, as well as what effect bans might have on the service.
