Good news awaits for all fans of The Rain. It’s set to return to the giant streaming platform soon. And though it’s going to be the final season of the series, fans are expecting it to be worth the wait.

The Rain is a Danish post-apocalyptic web series created by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Esben Toft Jacobsen and Christian Potalivo. Season 1 dropped on May 4, 2018, and since then, the show has built a fanbase.

In the same month and year of its release, the show was renewed for a second season with just six episodes. Not long after, it got the green light for the third and final season.

Series plot and cast

The show caught the attention of viewers through its post-apocalyptic genre. It follows Danish siblings Simone and Rasmus, who both survived a viral infection carried by a rainfall.

Almost all of the humans in Scandinavia have been wiped out by the virus. But Simone and Rasmus lived by staying in a bunker for six years

They emerged from their hiding place to find their scientist father who left them in the bunker. He never got to return so now they start a mission in finding him.

They meet other survivors along the way and together they travel across Denmark and Sweden to search for a safe place, as well as find Simone and Rasmus’ father.

The series is led by Alba August who plays as Simone and Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen as Rasmus Andersen.

They are also joined by Mikkel Følsgaard as Martin, Lukas Løkken as Patrick, Jessica Dinnage as Lea, Sonny Lindberg as Jean and Natalie Madueño as Fie among others.

Recurring cast includes Lars Simonsen as Dr. Frederik Andersen, Simone and Rasmus’ father, Jacob Luhmann as Thomas, Apollon “stranger” and Iben Hjejle as Ellen Andersen, Simone and Rasmus’ mother.
