Zack Snyder Reveals Biggest Pressure On Redoing Justice League

Director Zack Snyder reveals that the biggest pressure he's felt while working on his cut of Justice League is for the film to be true to itself.Director Zack Snyder reveals that the biggest pressure he's felt while working on his cut of Justice League is for the film to be true to itself. Snyder, who established himself as one of the most visually distinctive directors in the world with 2006's 300, was allowed to reboot the Superman story with 2013's Man Of Steel. He followed that up with 2016's Superman V Batman: Dawn Of Justice and was aiming to bring his vision for the DC characters to a satisfying conclusion with 2017's Justice League.

However, Snyder left the movie during post-production due to the tragic death of his daughter, and Joss Whedon took over the editing and reshoots. What resulted was a total change in tone, with Whedon and Warner Bros. jettisoning much of Snyder's material in favor of a lighter movie with more jokes. Now, Snyder has the chance to rectify that with his cut of the film, officially titled Zack Snyder's Justice League, but parochially known as the Snyder Cut, set to be released on HBO Max in 2021.
In a recent video interview with Beyond The Trailer, Snyder reveals the biggest pressure he has felt while working on his cut of the movie, saying that it's the idea that the film must be "true to itself." Snyder goes on to talking about studios getting involved and tweaking the vision of filmmakers and storytellers, a not-so-subtle dig at the changes that were made to Justice League. Snyder also mentions that he wants to create a "pure and exact" version of the movie for fans who are excited to see his vision up on the screen.

You can read the full quote below.

"I think really the big pressure on me is just for it [Justice League] to be exactly true to itself. And I know that sounds obvious but we as storytellers and as filmmakers a lot of times there's a lot of different powers that push and move and change what you're doing as you're doing it. But I think with this process and this project, it really is an amazing opportunity just to, and what I think the fans want, is just a very pure and exact version of the movie."

If Snyder, who is releasing new footage from Justice League this weekend, is to be believed, that means fans are set to finally get what they have wanted since Justice League was released - to see Snyder's vision for the story in its purest form. It's also a sign that this isn't some cash-grab effort at a Director's Cut for Snyder. He is as passionate about finishing his movie as his fans are, and that's a sign that the final product will be as polished as possible.

Of course, this also means that if the Snyder Cut of Justice League turns out to be anything less than a great movie, which is a genuine possibility given Snyder's inconsistent output in the past, fans won't be able to blame it on studio interference this time around. There is an increasing chance that the Snyder Cut won't be able to live up to expectations in any way, given the hype and build-up surrounding the movie over the past few years.

Fans will need to remember this when Zack Snyder's Justice League is released next year. The movie will likely have its flaws, regardless of the overall quality of the final product, and they shouldn't expect a perfect film. Setting realistic expectations now will ensure that fans can watch the film and enjoy it without being too disappointed if it doesn't turn out to be the greatest superhero movie of all time.
